Exercise during cancer treatment

Exercise is the toughest thing to do during cancer treatment. But it may be the most important.

Those undergoing cancer treatment can find it challenging to do everyday tasks – like making breakfast or brushing your teeth. However, there are numerous benefits to keeping your body moving during surgical recovery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapies. Kelsey Hendrickson, a personal trainer at Exact Sciences, discusses with Katie the importance of moving your body while undergoing treatment, from increased blood flow and maintaining muscle mass to better sleep and mental health. Kelsey shows Katie and a few cancer survivors a few exercises that can help them maintain good physical health and potentially alleviate some of the side effects and lingering ailments of their cancers and treatment regimens. Exact Sciences is committed to helping patients in their fights against cancer. Providing support and wellness opportunities for survivors among their own staff is just one of the myriad ways Exact Sciences is leading the fight against cancer.
