Exact Sciences CEO Kevin Conroy Attends Cancer Moonshot Summit

This Wednesday, Exact Sciences Chairman and CEO Kevin Conroy, attended the White House’s Cancer Moonshot Summit with Vice President Biden, Dr. Jill Biden and a group of leading researchers, doctors and executives from the cancer community.

The Moonshot Summit was just one of more than 270 events taking place Wednesday in communities nationwide. According to the White House, the event in DC marked the first time stakeholders representing all type of cancers convened under one national charge.

“The power of the bully pulpit cannot be understated. Vice President Biden is effectively acting on the President’s behest and coordinating across a range of federal agencies to find new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer,” Conroy said.

In his opening speech, Vice President Biden emphasized prevention as the most powerful tool for fighting cancer, acknowledging that it “can help save lives more than anything else.”

During the event’s breakout discussions and working sessions, Conroy echoed Biden’s message about preventative measures and highlighted the value of screening to detect cancer at its earliest, most treatable stages.

He discussed the value of Cologuard, which was recently included in the preeminent colon cancer screening guidelines, as a patient-friendly screening option for the second-deadliest form of cancer.

“Today’s Summit highlights the unified coordination between the government, medical community and private sector in the fight against cancer. The administration’s goals are lofty but achievable through the combined power of these groups,” Conroy said.

“One of the lasting takeaways from today is the increasing focus on early detection. From microscopic innovations to at-home screening kits, the value and impact of preventing cancer is a key part of this mission.”
