Colorectal Cancer Screening Adherence and the Importance of Shared Decision Making

Colorectal cancer is treatable in about 90% of cases1 when caught in early stages. Still, an estimated 60 million people ages 45-85 remain unscreened.2 At Exact Sciences, we want to change that.

To improve colorectal cancer screening completion, it’s important that patients understand their options and feel comfortable with the testing process. Healthcare providers can help to encourage screening adherence by engaging in conversation with their patients and making testing decisions together.

At the 2023 ASCO Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium, new data supported the importance of patient involvement in the colorectal cancer screening process. To better understand what this means for healthcare providers and their patients, we sat down with Shama Alam, Senior Manager of Evidence Generation and Guidelines Strategy, Screening Medical Affairs at Exact Sciences to learn more.
