SimpleScreen™ CRC blood test
The SimpleScreen CRC test is an FDA-approved blood-based colorectal cancer screening for adults 45 and older at average risk for CRC. It is recommended as an alternative for patients who decline an ACS-preferred screening option. SimpleScreen CRC was developed and manufactured by Freenome, LLC.

Colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer-related death in the U.S., but it is highly preventable and treatable when detected early through screening.1 Nearly 60 million Americans remain overdue for recommended screening,2 underscoring the need for additional convenient screening approaches that can help reach more people.

SimpleScreen CRC is a new blood-based screening option. It uses a simple blood draw and detects signals associated with colorectal cancer from cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in the blood.

Together with the Cologuard® tests, the SimpleScreen CRC test can help close the screening gap and reach those who remain unscreened. Abbott offers a simplified CRC screening pathway that prioritizes early detection and prevention.

Early detection is the priority
FDA approval of SimpleScreen CRC has expanded colorectal cancer screening options for the nearly 60 million Americans who are overdue for screening. Medicare coverage and American Cancer Society guidance further support broader access to blood-based colorectal cancer screening.3,4
The most effective screening test is the one a person will actually complete. Many people who should be screened for colorectal cancer simply aren’t. A blood-based test provides another way to reach the unscreened patients, and getting more people into the screening fold leads to earlier detection and better outcomes.
