Exact Sciences dedicated the month of July to giving back with an annual giving campaign dedicated to supporting local communities.
In total, team members contributed 12,000 acts of impact in the form of volunteer hours, donations, and monetary gifts, surpassing the goal of 10,000. Team members volunteered 2,500 hours at nonprofits across the globe. Together, they built connections with one another and their communities by providing meals for families, preparing care packages, creating encouraging cards, and more.
Along with volunteering, Exact Sciences hosted the first-ever Give Back Bash, a Madison-based family-friendly event. In addition to food, games, and music, the 1,900 attendees had the opportunity to donate and build care packages for six nonprofit partners. In total, attendees raised $22,000 and assembled 4,000 care packages.
“It was a joy to spend time with my family and colleagues in such a fun and uplifting environment,” said Betsy Kleba, vice president of CRC lifecycle management. “One moment that truly stood out was when a colleague’s young child approached the tent where we were building care packages for families staying at Ronald McDonald House. Initially thinking the items were for them, the child lit up with excitement after learning they were helping families with children in hospitals. They jumped right in to help build the packages—it was the perfect embodiment of what the Give Back Bash was all about: bringing the people we care about together to celebrate all we have and give back to those in need.”
Supporting local nonprofits made the day even more meaningful for employees, their families, as well as the community organizations.
"The snack packs are just one of the many, many ways Exact Sciences and its employees support WayForward,” WayForward Resources Community Engagement Manager Beth Johnson said. “We appreciate how Exact Sciences and its employees care for our community to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food and stable housing.”
