Stepping away from their regular roles and into the community, over 60 interns took part in Exact Sciences' "Intern Volunteer Day" on July 23.

The group volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, Wayforward Resources, Madison Forward Pantry Gardens, Feeding San Diego, and Second Harvest of Southern Wisconsin and Silicon Valley. The day’s work involved baking casseroles for families, weeding gardens for food pantries, and more.

“The interns showed up with compassion, energy, and a genuine drive to learn, grow, and give back” says Lead University Relations Specialist Kielley Lemkuil.

The day was about more than just service. Sporting Exact Sciences volunteer shirts, interns shared experiences and built connections with one another and their communities.

“Getting to volunteer with the other interns was not only rewarding, but also an incredible opportunity to build connections with my peers,” said Product Development Intern Andrew Bigelow. “We were able to have fun and enjoy the work we were doing while also making an impact on our community.” Bigelow and his fellow interns bagged over 4,000 pounds of tomatoes to distribute to those in need through Feeding San Deigo.

Exact Sciences believes that strong partnerships, active community engagement, and a shared commitment to one another are the foundation of thriving communities.

“Being part of Intern Volunteer Day was one of the most rewarding experiences of my internship,” said Recruiting Intern Morgan Mack. “It grounded me in the values of Exact Sciences and reminded me that our work extends far beyond the office—it’s about uplifting communities and making a lasting impact.”
