The Cologuard® Classic by Exact Sciences has always been about giving back.

As pro golfers gather in Arizona each March for the PGA TOUR Champions event, Exact Sciences creates opportunities to benefit the local community. Since the 2018 tournament, the first with Cologuard as its title sponsor, more than $3.1 million in tournament proceeds have funded youth sports and efforts to raise colorectal cancer (CRC) awareness in Southern Arizona.

The 2024 tournament, held at La Paloma Country Club in Tucson, will continue that tradition. Exact Sciences has joined with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona to give tournament access to golf fans of any income level while helping local families fight food insecurity.

Each community member who donates a non-perishable food item or makes at least a $5 donation to the food bank will get a general admission ticket to the Cologuard Classic by Exact Sciences on Saturday, March 9.

“We’re grateful to have this support from the Cologuard Classic by Exact Sciences,” says Malea Chavez, CEO of Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. “Hunger in southern Arizona is an enormous challenge. Community partnerships can make a big difference, especially a high-visibility event like the Cologuard Classic.”

In addition to sponsoring the golf tournament, which honors people impacted by CRC, Exact Sciences uses corporate dollars to support communities around the country. In 2024, the company will prioritize addressing food insecurity — when people don’t have enough nutritious food or are unsure where to find their next meal.

Arizona has the third-highest rate of food insecurity among Western states, according to Feeding America.

“At Exact Sciences, we believe that a commitment to community makes everyone stronger,” says Everett Cunningham, Chief Commercial Officer at Exact Sciences. “We hope this partnership gives all Tucson community members the opportunity to attend this truly special event while benefiting a great cause and fighting food insecurity in Southern Arizona.”
