If you’re in the Madison area, keep an eye on the bike lane!

Exact Sciences is proud to take part in Madison Bcycle’s first-ever “Art Bike” program. This special fleet of e-bikes raises awareness of community organizations doing diverse and important work throughout the Madison area. Each bike’s design is the result of a collaboration between a local business, artist, and nonprofit.

The Exact Sciences bike highlights the importance of inclusion in the STEM field by celebrating the next generation of innovators. The bike’s featured organization is Maydm, an Exact Sciences community partner that works with girls and youth of color in grades 6-12 to provide skill-based training for the technology sector.

True innovation can only happen when everyone is able to bring their unique perspective, personality, and creativity to their work. The Exact Sciences and Maydm teams worked closely with Milwaukee artist Gabriela Riveros to create a design that reflects this message. Maydm’s students offered more than enough inspiration, and the design’s background even contains lines of code from real projects they have completed.

“We are glad to partner with Exact Sciences on this Art Bike to highlight the importance of changing the narrative of who is STEM and equipping girls and students of color to pursue careers in this field,” said Winnie Karanja, Founder & Executive Director at Maydm.

Madison BCycle unveiled the Art Bikes at a showcase earlier this month, and shortly afterwards they hit the streets for public use.
