A Successful First Harvest at Freight Farm

"Freight Farm," a hydroponic container farm, was delivered to our Discovery Campus in Madison, Wisconsin in early 2020. This sustainable farming option allows us to grow leafy greens for our Madison campuses while staying committed to reducing our impact on the environment.

Several different varieties of lettuce were planted this spring. The first-ever harvest took place in early June, and it was a big success! The team gathered lots of butter lettuce and mixed greens, which traveled just steps away to our campus kitchens where they were prepared and served in our dining services.

Having an entire farm operate inside in a shipping container means Exact Sciences can grow fresh produce year-round. We’re looking forward to sharing updates from our farm as we work to  provide fresh, healthy options to our employees.
